Sited as one of Vermont's most spectacular resources by the Winooski Park District, it is the second longest river in the state. Its spectacular route winds through towns, farms and the Green Mountains to give paddlers a view of Vermont that is not seen through any other transportation corridor.

If you just want to float out on a big beautiful lake for the day, Lake Elmore and the Green River Reservoir are both excellent choices. Both offer rental of canoes and kayaks and camp sites if you'd like to take the family on an extended nature outing.
